Pirkko Markula, Socio-cultural Studies of Sport, University of Alberta

Pirkko Markula is Professor of Socio-cultural Studies of Sport at the University of Alberta, Canada. Her research interests include poststructuralist analyses of health, the physically active body, movement and dance. She is a co-author, with Richard Pringle, of Foucault, Sport and Exercise: Power, Knowledge and Transforming the Self (Routledge, 2006).
