Peter N Stearns, George Mason University, Virginia

Peter N. Stearns is Provost of George Mason University, in Virginia, and Professor of History. He edits the Journal of Social History. His research, both on modern Europe and the United States, has focused on using historical analysis to explore human behaviours in areas such as old age, the emotions, and dieting. His most recent book, Anxious Parents, deals with the emergence of new kinds of childrearing challenges in 20th-century America.
