Author Biography

Roka Hurihia Ngarimu-Cameron

Roka Hurihia Ngarimu-Cameron is Aotearoa New Zealand born and was raised on the Hawai Marae in the area of Te Whánua á Apanui. She has established weaving programmes for Te Wánanga o Aotearoa and is herself a weaver of long standing. Roka is currently enrolled for the Master of Fine Arts Degree at Te Kura Matatini ki Otago Otago Polytechnic in Dunedin, New Zealand and her project engages with the translation of traditional Máori off-loom handwoven garments into a contemporary arts practice in Western loom weaving to bring the two cultures of Aotearoa together.
