Christine Andersen, Faculty of Native Studies, University of Alberta

Chris Andersen is Associate Professor in the Faculty of Native Studies, University of Alberta where he teaches on, among other subjects, Aboriginal Identity and Post-Structuralism. Chris’ research interests include the racialisation of the Canadian courts, the rise of Aboriginal ‘numeracy’ in the colonial rule of contemporary Canada, and the construction of urban Aboriginality. Dr Andersen has published extensively, including his recent (2006) co-authored book, The Indigenous Experience: Global Perspectives.

Brendan Hokowhitu, Te Tumu School of Máori, Pacific and Indigenous Studies, University of Otago

Brendan Hokowhitu is Ngati Pukenga. He is a senior lecturer in Te Tumu, the School of Máori, Pacific and Indigenous Studies at the University of Otago, Dunedin, Aotearoa New Zealand, where he is the Programme Coordinator of the Masters of Indigenous Studies. Dr Hokowhitu’s research focuses on the deconstruction of dominant representations of Máori and, in particular, of Máori masculinity.
